These paintings were created by first extending a single line across the whole surface of the canvas. I added more lines so that three or four would run side by side. In response to the subdivision of the surface I made even more lines multiplying them in parallel. The concept was often interrupted by unexpected turns, detours or links. As the results reminded me of one of the earliest examples of cave art consisting of parallel lines pressed by fingers into the wet clay walls of the cave in Altamira I chose to name the cycle after one of them.
